the ten commandments … cowboy style

Jeanne here.

The Cowboy and I (and the littles and my parents) are at the National Finals Rodeo in Vegas this week.

Which is a crazy good time!  Especially for the steer-wrestling love of my life.

This is why I affectionately call him “The Cowboy.” Here he is “bull-doggin” at the Big Reno Rodeo, in the life he had before I knew him.

We get to see some of the most incredible Cowboy athletes in the world.

The Cowboy gets to spend time reminiscing with old pals.

He gets to show off the little Cowgirl in his life …

Forget rodeo queen, this little cowgirl is telling everyone she’s going to be a “roper!” (We need to get her into riding lessons the minute we get home!)

And we get to experience the very best of Cowboy culture … including an honest and simple spirituality that permeates every aspect of the cowboy life.

I’ve seen a few different versions of this these past few days, and thought you might appreciate it, too:

The Ten Commandments: Cowboy Style

Just one God

Honor yer Ma and Pa

No tellin’ tales or gossipin’

Git yourself to Sunday meeting

Put nothin’ before God

No foolin’ around with another fella’s gal

No killin’

Watch yer mouth

Don’t take what ain’t yours

Don’t ne hankerin’ for your buddy’s stuff

Seems pretty simple, when you put it that way…
