Today when I put the little one down for a nap I resisted the urge to turn on the TV for Elijah (just keeping it real) and decided to attempt homemade play-dough. If you have been keeping up with us here, you know I’m not a crafty one. I whipped it up with some ingredients I had around the house, and it was super easy! I started with this recipe, but made a few changes.
Here’s what I used:
- 1 cup flour
- 1/3 cup salt
- 2 teaspoons cream of tarter
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil (you could probably use any oil)
- a few frozen blueberries (soaking in a tablespoon of water)
- sauce pan
- small piece of wax paper
Here’s what I did:
Add all ingredients (except berries) in a saucepan and turn on medium.
Stir for 2-ish minutes until smooth (a few clumps are okay).
Once your dough really starts coming together (like above), add the purple water the berries have been soaking in. Feel free to skip this step if your little one doesn’t mind tan play-do. We made one batch with and one without.
I was expecting the berries to dye the dough a little more blue. It turned out light pink, but Spiderman didn’t seem to mind. You could use food-coloring if you would rather, but I wanted something more natural.
Happy to report that this kept him busy for almost 2 hours. Have a great day!
